FAQs

I live in the Darwin area...can I save on postage by picking up my order from you?

The short answer is YES!  Simply select REGULAR post, and I will refund the cost of postage.

I live in the rural area but work in the Darwin metro area, so am very happy to deliver to any area from Humpty Doo to Cullen Bay!  If you live further out than the Arnhem Highway lights, let’s arrange to meet up somewhere agreeable to us both.

What is Mokume Gane?

Mokume-gane  is a Japanese metalworking procedure which produces a mixed-metal laminate with distinctive layered patterns, as well as that laminate itself. Mokume gane translates closely to "wood grain metal" or "wood eye metal" and describes the way metal takes on the appearance of natural wood grain.  The basic principles very easily cross over to polymer clay but we've taken it much further than just resembling "woodgrain", and with many more colours available.

How long have you been working with polymer clay?

My first project with it was way back in 1998 when I needed a lot of buttons for a project...first of all I couldn't find exactly what I needed in Karratha (where I was living back then), and secondly, I needed so many buttons it would have cost in excess of $50.  I stumbled across polymer clay as a possible solution, and ended up getting the project finished with less than $12 worth of clay.

I didn't pick it up again until about 8 years ago, and the rest is history.  I've learned a lot along the way, via internet and also by travelling interstate to attend workshops by internationally renowned polymer artists.

Where else can I see your work?

I have a small selection of items in the Tactile Arts Boutique, situated in the foyer at Darwin's Parliament House.

I've just joined Top End Collective, who hold markets fortnightly in the airconditioned shop next door to Dollars and Sense at Gateway Shopping Centre in Palmerston.

I also have a small range at Bobbie Polish Fish, the new gift shop located opposite Specsavers in Oasis Shopping Centre, Palmerston.

You can find me at the usual Tactile Arts Craft Fairs.

And finally, I'll also have a stall at the Green Ant Christmas Craft Fair, located at the Darwin Showgrounds. ***This event has been cancelled for 2020 :(

Always on the lookout for a stockists.
